Heating controls are one of two types – thermostats or the traditional timer/programmers. Thermostats monitor the temperature inside your home and maintain heat at the temperature you set, while timers and programmers turn the heating on and off according to a pre-set schedule.
Timers and programmers set your central heating system to automatically turn on and off at certain times of the day. Timers tend to be on a repeated loop every day, while programmers allow you to schedule heating and hot water daily, to allow for that weekend lie in.
Timers and programmers tend to be fixed to the boiler (or very near it) which can be inconvenient if your boiler is difficult to access.
